Dear Joanna,
After our last Feldenkrais session I sat in my car and cried...for joy at being completely pain free for the first time in many, many years.
I have a debilitating myofacial pain disorder that has left me in nearly constant pain for the last ten years. The treatment for it has been a collection of pain killers, which only mask the pain and never really take it away, not to mention the numerous bad side effects.
So, imagine my joy at discovering that Feldenkrais is actually getting to the source of the pain and alleviating it! I can't begin to thank you for this priceless gift, and can't imagine ever NOT doing Feldenkrais!

ps: I have been doing a sort of mini-intensive this past week with the recordings you made this past spring and summer. Wow! Those recordings are now my most precious possessions.
"I have never been a runner, but this year I signed up for a triathlon and now I must become a runner. So, I have been working on running technique and increasing my stamina, though so far, I have been only been able to run about a mile before my lungs give out.
After Joanna's Feldenkrais ATM workshop for runners, I was able to run 2.5 times as far as I ever had before, with ease I never would have guessed. It made me realize that my lack of stamina was less about running technique, and more about letting my body move freely and easily. After the ATM workshop, I wasn't holding my upper body and shoulders tense and I was able to breathe easily. I didn't even know I had been wasting so much energy holding my body like that. I was able to remind myself throughout the run of all of the minute spinal and ribcage motions that were happening with each step.
I will definitely use some of the ATM exercises as part of my warm up to remind me of that free feeling whenever I go out running!

Hi Joanna,
Just wanted to thank you for the session last week. ...haven't felt this good in years! I still try to remember all that you taught me about the 'bow' -- it really seems to help a lot.
For once I have an exercise that is both easy to do and fun at the same time.

Hi Joanna,
I'm writing today to thank-you. During the lesson last night in the Women's Posture class, I discovered that my body was actually capable of grace in movement. What a great feeling! We were doing a shoulder/head turn with our eyes, focusing on smoothly looking in the direction we were turning. At the beginning of the lesson I felt definite jumps (kind of like kinks that I had to skip over) in my field of vision. By the end of the lesson I was really surprise that the jumps were gone and I had a fluidity in my neck and shoulder movement that I do not remember ever experiencing before.
I am so glad that I joined your classes this past year. When I first started taking Feldenkrais I was unable to lie on my back with my legs straight out without excruciating pain in my low back. A lot of that was due to the fact that through daily life and working out I was forcing my body to do things that hurt more than helped. I now feel that I have a better understanding of how to let my parts work together as one instead of trying to force them to do my bidding. I no longer have difficulty lying on my back....I feel that I am definitely on the road to recovery.

Joanna has worked with me for a while and has affected my physical and mental health in a very positive way. She has great instincts concerning what parts of my body need to be worked on, and at the end of a session I not only feel more free in my movement, but I also have the knowledge to keep improving.
She also did an emotional process with me to work on my asthma. I have not had to use my inhaler since that process.
Joanna works extremely well with the connection between the mind and body. She also makes it very safe to deal with emotional issues that come up with body work.
It's some of the best work I've experienced in this area.
